Dr. med. Wulf-Peter Brockmann

Dr. Wulf-Peter Brockmann studied medicine in Hamburg, specializing in radiology and radiation therapy at the University Medical Center Hamburg-Eppendorf, where he also earned his doctorate. He later worked as a senior physician in radiation therapy before establishing his own practice in Hamburg, introducing hyperthermia treatment alongside radiation therapy and chemotherapy.

Since then, radiation therapy for his patients has been provided by the Radiation Center Hamburg-North, where he utilizes the CyberKnife system for precision radiation, including immunotherapy applications. In 2005, he began offering immunotherapy treatments, including dendritic cell therapy, at the OncoLight® Institute in Hamburg, in collaboration with Drs. Neßelhut and colleagues in Duderstadt. He is also a member of the joint practice for cell therapy in Duderstadt, which enabled him to obtain a license for dendritic cell production while maintaining his practice in Hamburg.

Education & Experience

1973 – 1979

Studied medicine at the University of Hamburg.

1982

Earned a doctorate in medicine based on a dissertation that contributed to medical diagnostic research, expanded the imaging capabilities of the sonographic real-time method, and introduced new applications in vascular diagnostics for malignant tumors.

1979-1986

Completed specialist training in radiology and radiation therapy, as well as further training in radio-oncology at the University Medical Center Hamburg-Eppendorf.

During this time and afterward, he gained expertise in diagnostic imaging and radiation therapy modalities, acquiring practical experience in various radiological techniques and patient care, particularly in combining radiation therapy with low-dose chemotherapy, neutron-based cancer treatments, and the development of more effective and less harmful radiation therapy approaches through multiple daily applications.

1984

Obtained dual board certification as a radiologist and radiation therapist, confirming his expertise in diagnostic imaging.

1986

Received additional recognition in radiation therapy after passing further examinations, confirming his competence in the therapeutic use of radiation for cancer treatment. At the time, radiology and radio-oncology training were not yet separate disciplines.

1986 – 1996

Worked as a senior physician in the radiation therapy department at the Radiological University Clinic Hamburg-Eppendorf.
• His responsibilities included diagnosing and treating cancer patients, particularly with complex techniques such as hyperfractionated-accelerated radiation therapy with or without concurrent chemotherapy, as well as developing treatment plans. Over approximately 15 years, he specialized in neutron therapy and collaborated with interdisciplinary teams to ensure comprehensive patient care.

1999

Established a private practice for radiology and radiation therapy in Hamburg, focusing on advanced diagnostic and therapeutic services for patients with various medical conditions, especially cancer.

2000

Initiated the first hyperthermia treatment in combination with radiation therapy and chemotherapy to promote integrated approaches to cancer care and improve therapeutic outcomes for patients.

2004-2006

Founded an independent oncology private practice for dendritic cell therapy treatments in collaboration with Drs. Neßelhut et al. in Duderstadt. The aim was to integrate these innovative treatment options into his therapeutic repertoire and advance their use for cancer patients, particularly in combination with electro-hyperthermia and low-dose chemotherapy.

2011

Became a member of the joint practice for cell therapy in Duderstadt while maintaining his main location at the OncoLight® Institute in Hamburg.

His role included further integrating advanced cell therapies into cancer treatment protocols and improving patient care through cutting-edge medical approaches aimed at reducing late side effects and potentially curing even metastatic cancer cases that were previously considered only for palliative treatment.

2024

Published a literary summary of his 40-year career:
Off-Label Therapies and Diagnostics in Oncology – A Plea for Preserving Quality of Life and Improving Prognoses for Cancer Patients.
